Arrival Of Australian Rugby League Team
AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. Tlie aircraft carrving seven members of the Australian Eugby League team to Auckland, eneountered bad weather today and returned to *Sydney. The forward, E. J. Eayner, had previously been off-loaded. This information was received tonight by the team manager, Mr. A. Thompson, who arrived at midday with 13 members of the team by the Wanganella. The eight players who were scheduled to arrive by air, and the vicecaptain, W. P. O'Connell, are now expected tomorrow morning. " Also with the party in the Wanganella were Mr. F. Moynihan, the team's business manager, and Mr. H. Flegg, ehairman of the Australian Eugby League Board of Control. ' Fourteen members of the team were past internationals and 40 per cent of them had played in five to seven Tests, said Mr. Thompson. The team was, nevertheless, a young one. The object of his visit, said Mr. Flegg, was to promote closer liaison with New Zealand and discuss with New Zealand officials questions affecting international football.
