AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. Additiomal penalties for car conversion were recommended by the the council of the Automohile Association (Auckland) tonight. A report of a suh-committee adopted hy the council, recomimended. that the North Island Motor Union. be asked to make representations to the Department of Justice to consider three suggestions. They were: — That a minimum pexualty be laid down for car conversion except in cases of first offenders. That a convicted person be compelled to make good in the form of a ^.fine, any damage done to a converted vehicle. That a person convicted of car conversion he prohihited from holdipg a driving licence for a period of two years.
