Town Plan For Heart Of London

Eeeeived Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 11. Tlie Towu Planning Committee of the Corporation of the City of London has prepared a report for submission to the common council advocating the adoption of an extensive clearance scheme among' the bomb ruins around St. Paul 's Cathedral. The plan, which would cost £2,700,000, suggests the clearing of all the approaehes to tlie cathedral on the south and east and forming the present hombed sites into open spaces which would serve as a menaorial to London 's war effort and a commemoration of the cathedral 's almost miraeulous preservation. It is contended that the adoption of this scheme would preserve the- best views of the cathedral without making an excessive demand for open spaces.
