Election To Be Held On A Wednesday
DUNEDIN, Sept. 12. The date of the General Election has been deciced. It will be held on Wednesday, November 30. The caucus of the Parliamentary Labour Ptarty, it is stated, last week reached a deeision on Election Day after a strenuous meeting, the point at issue being whether it should be a Saturday or a Wednesday. Government leaders favoured Saturday for . polling but back benchers (with the consideration in mind that a midweek holiday would not be unacceptable to many of the constituents) preferred Wednesday. The final voting provided a onajority of four to one for a Wednesday poll. » It is understood that the Dunedin branch of the Labour Party has already engaged the Town Hall for the night of Tuesday, November 29, for a final pre-election rally,
