Moral Uplift Seen Among Leper Sufferers
P. J.
TWOMEY,
(To the Editor) Sir, — ^During my recent visit to the leper hospitals and dispensaries in the South-west Pacific I saw striking evidence of the moral uphfe created in the lives of lepers and sufferers from tropical diseases. The tokens of friendship sent to them by the people of New Zealand have helped to bring about this happy result. , These isolated people need sympathy and encouragement in their hard trials and they ever look to us for this help. Since we began this work over 20 years ago, 886 lepers have been discharged as cured. This achievement speaks for itself. I shall he grateful for assistance in continuing this Christ-like work, and will personally aeknowledge all gifts, however srnall. The need is great. As we pass this way hut once let us do the good we can! Yours etc., ■
