Long Service Leave For Coal Miners

Received Wednesdav, 7 p.m. , 8YDNEY, Sept. 7. The Coal Industry Tribunal. today awarded long service leave to miners but penalised them for the recent general strike and provided penalties . for future stoppages. The award, which provides for con.seeutive workiilg shifts, is equivalent to thr.ee nionths' leave for miners on full pay after a minimum of ten years ; service. kTiners who did not lieed the tribunal 's warning on July 15 to r-eturn to work promptly, will lose oue day's leave for each of the seven weeks they were on strike. The tribunal announceri that the award will be suspended in any district where collieries are idle because of a strike.
