First Year's Cost Of Aiding The Backward

Received Wednesdav, 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 7., The Hnited Nations' Economic and Social Council 's proposed programme or world-wide technical assistance to undordeveloped areas, will cost between 15,000,000 and 25,000,000 dollars in the first year, Mr. A. D. K. Owen, United States Assistant Secretary-General in charge of economic all'airs, said today. He said that Ihe programme was ,expected to provide for economic development niis^ions to survev resources and •discover the most promising lines of aevelopment in various countries. Special missions would deal with the reorganisation of civil serviees, the provision of industrial consultants and the combating- of illiteracy.
