Last Day Rush To Get On Electoral Rolls

AUCKLAND, Sept. 5. Tliousands of Aueklanders left it uutil the last day, today, to enrol on the main roll for the Geueral Election. Some were waiting at the ofiice in the Law Court building when it opened at 8 a.m. and people were still arriving to lill in eards when the otiice elosed to the public at 6 p.m. Always busy, the little electoral oftice was erowded between noon and 2 p.m. Telephones rang constantlv, mail poured m and in all about 500U new enrolments were received during the day. The registrar of electors at Auckland said at the end of the day that an average of 4000 new enrolments had been received for each of the 12 electorates under his (harge. The greatest numbers had been in the Tamaki and Waitakere electorates.
