Tragedy at a Bathing Pool
Received Sunday 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept.3 Twelve out of a party of 16 schoolgirls v/ere drowned while bathing in a pool near Kaiseran, about 40 miles east of Cologne, says Reuter's Cologne correspondent. The pool was marked with warning signs that it was nnsuitable for bathing but tlie whole class of girls, with a teacher, ran into the water holding hands. Some of the children lost their balance on the slippery bottom and dragged the others into deep water where they were drowned. The teacher collapsed from exhaustion trying to save the girls. The police took the teacher into protective custody fearing reprisals from parents.
