Big New Ship for P. and O. Line

Received Thursday, 10.55 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 1. The P. and O. Company's new fiagskip Himalaya, 28,000 tons, docked at Southampton today on the coinpietioa of handing over trials. Designed for a spet d of 22 knots, the Ilimalaya exceecled 25 knots over a measured mile oir the Isle of Aran and logged a steadv 24 knots during steamijig trials. The Hin.alaya was the largest ship in the world launched in 194S. The chairman of the P. and O., Sir William Currie, said the Himalaya was a notable acldition to the British Afercantile inarine.
