Charged With Theft.
A Levin labourer, Charles Davidson, married, aged 28, appeared before Mr. E. G. Bennett, J.P., in 'the Magistrate's Qourt at Palmerston North yesterday charged with the theft in February of a, signet ring valued at 25s the property of K. D. Smith, of Palmerston North. On the application of Senior Detective O. Power accused was remanded until September 5. On the * representation of Mr. B. Ogilvie, for Davidson, bail was allowed in accused's own recognisance of £50.
