WELLINGTON, August 30. There was wideapread illegal use of foglamps on motor vehieles and while he felt the misuse was quite unintentional and due to lack of understanding of the regulations, those lights were causing an additional and unnecessary hazar'd at night, said the Minister of Transport (Mr. Hackett) today. The Minister said that motor vehieles might, in addition to the two head1 lights, be equipped with one foglamp, but that should be used onlv in the dipped position with the two sidelights when the headlights were extinguisheu. {'It is not permissible to use a foglamp together with the headlights,' ' said the Minister. "I hope drivers will give the matter immediate attention and use their- lights correetly. Instruetions have been issued to traffic officers to make cheeks on cars with lights that do not comply with the regulations. ' '
