W.D.F.F. Quarterly Meeting

The quarterly meeting of the [Manawatu Provincial Executive of the W.D.F.F. held last week in Levin was presided over by Mrs. R. Jenkins. All branches were represented. Mrs. Jenkins gave a very comprehensive report on the W.D. conference held in Wellington lUst July. The report revealed .that the WD.F.F. comprises 23,874 members, made up of 636' senibr branches and two juriior branches. There are 42 provincials, 31 in the North Island and 11 in the South Island. Donations to headquarters from the branches for the year amounted tp £6235. Mrs. Bartholomew, in her rest home report, stated that 153 members and 72 non-members had stayed at "Kianga Moe" rest home .ast year. March and April had been the busiest months in the home. Forty-eight Maori trainees had passed through the matron's nands since the beginning of the scheme. . There is no housekeeper in the district at the moment, reported Mrs. Bartholomew, housekeeper secretary. This is ,to be regretted as the need is^ great. A very infceresting huriiotous three-minute talk, entitled "Dreams of niy Girlhood," was given by Mrs. Bennett, Manakau. " •
