Eeporting this todav, tlie Commonwealth Eeonomic Comniittee eomprising officials, Iligh Commissioners and trades commissioners of the Dominions, states that a slight ro.-ovprv is expected in the ligures for 1948-49, The comniittee stated that the demand from importing countries was largely for Merino and fine crossbred wool despite the relatiVe cheapness of medium and coarse crossbred. The gap between production and oonsumption was met from Doinirion stocks accumulateil during the war. The total export froin the fivp chief countries was 2,210.000,000 poundH weight against 1,607,000,000 pounds in 1937-3S. Britain was the main market in the year reviewed.
