Hopeful Portent For More Housing Sections

A communication from the King George V Memorial Fund Board, in rep'y to the council's suggestion that the area adjacent to the Health Camp at Tasman Beach, 'which contained approximately 60 building sites, should be made available for housing, was received at Wednesday night's meeting o'f the Otaki Borough Council. The letter stated that the Welington Children's Hea'th Camp committee had heen asked to report on and reply to the council's suggestion. The opinion was advsnced by councillors that the committee had earlier expressed itself as in favour of the area being utilised, and that there were now grounds for optimism regarding the successful outcome of the council's suggestion. The town clerk, Mr. Alex. Wilson, advised the council that he had written suggesting that the land be made available under the Glasgow lease system,- and had pointed out that the area at present was overgrown with lupin, toe toe and boxthorn, and was also a breeding ground for rabbits. He had stressed that the land could be made revenue producing if the council's suggestion was given effeet to, and the revenue would be a help in furthering the good work oi the Health Camp Committee.
