LYTTELTON BRANCH SUPPORTS AUCKLAND

CHRISTCHURCH, August 12. A well-attended lunch-hour meeting of the Lyttelton Waterside" Workers' Union passed the following resolution today: "That the Lyttelton braneh of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union requests the Government to take action against the Auckland' Shipowners ' Association in their action in locking out the members of the Aueklano braneh of the union when they are aiready working 44 hours a week, four hours more than the normal work performed by workers in other industries in this country under labour legislation. Further, wre extend to our fellow members in Auckland our full support, recognising that they have become the spearhead of an attack by the shipowners in this latest move to smash the Waterside Workers' Union."
