' WELLINGTON, August 11. \ The problems of ^the ' sheepfarming industry were further-^ "debSted in the House of Representatives tonight ^when the diseussion of the report of the i Royal Coirimission on the sheepf arihing in'dustry, 'was 'continued. • ... Mr. J.. J. Maher (Otaki) said that the light manner in Which Governm'ent speakers l\ad dealt with such an important report, was an indictment of the people for returning them to Parliament. It boded ill for the country that a Party which had been 14 years in power, should have only three members who. knew anything about farmiftg which was the mainstay of the country 's prosperity. Mr. Maher said that production would be stepped up much more when farm^rs had a Government in which they could have eonfidenee. Only increased production would lower taxajtion but the farmers were frustrated in their eiforts. He said it was impertinent for Government members to talk abont lending farmers money at 3 pei cent for rural housing. If they were given some of their own money lying idle in London or locally, then they would build.
