Protests Had Effect
WELLINGTON, August 11. Reductions in the rates for employers ' liability insurance under the Workers' Gompensation Amendmant Act giving the Orown a nionopoly of this class of business, were contained in regulations gazetted today. The Minister in charge of the State Fire and Accident Insurance OfS.ce, Mr. Mason, said tonight that .these represented a substantial saving to the public. This had resulted from the experience which had been obtainedTn relation to the operation of the system. Mr. Mason said that these savings accrued under two headings. Firstly there was a direct reduction in a wide range of premium rates and a further saving would be obtained in many in'stances by a more liberal system of classification which the new scaie in many cases would make possible. Where all employees of an organisation were forinerly classed under one rate, the new scale would admit of their classifi.catiou under their various respective headings with the result that many would corne under lower rates of premium tlian sthey would formerly. These savin'gs in premium were all retrospective and reiated^back to the beginning of April of this year. i
