Latest Road Information
Despite the fact that ffood waters ipade the main highway impassable at one point between Shannon and Makerua, a short detour enabled motorists to continue using the Levin -Palmerston North ' (via Shannon) route, This was stated by Pairol Ofiicer R. • Keenan, of the Automobile Association (Wellington) at 2 p.m. today in making his latest report on district roads. He •added that the detour was clearly marked with signs. The Himatangi-Palmerston North rqad is bloeked by flood waters at Rangiotu and is closed to traffic, said Mr. Keenan. The Manawata Gorge road was open, traffic being ane way, while the Saddle Road was also open.
