Israeli Stock Mission To N.Z. Healthy Sign
The interest reporte'd as being taken in New Zealand stud catt'e by the Farmers' Eederation of Israel was commented on at a meeting of Friesian breeders in Levin yesterday, The chairman, Mr. B. S. Kyle, said' he had read that Israel had a representative on his way to study the developments in cattle breed:ing in Australasia and that Israel was desirous of importing 2000 head of Australian and New Zealand stud cattle. This showed there was an overseas demand for purebred stock. This was a healthy sign and noted with appreciation by breeders. While in Palestine he had noted that nearly all the herds there were Friesians, said Mr. P. M. Small. Before the war .sires were imported from Holland and artificial insemination was practised on a large scale during the war, when the farmers had had to make full use of the bul.s they had, importation from Hol'land being impossible. He had. seen some beautiful stock in Palestine, he added.
