Cost Of Superphosphate. The following resolution was passed by the meeting after a discussion on the costs of superphosphate : "That this meeting o-f the (Cuku-Manakau Co-operative suppliers supports the Sheep Industry Commission's recommendation that fco.day's ex-works price of superphosphate — £7 10s 6d- a tpp— should be the price delivered on farms) The cost of freight from the works to the farm should be bprn-e balf by the stabilisation pool fimd and haif by the Consolidated Fund. Output Increases. A total of 492 tons 16 cwt. of hutter was manufactured by the f actory /during 1948-49, reported the chairman of directors, Mr. Bertram, in his annual review. The equivalent tonnage o,f butter in milk sent to Wellington was approximately 220 tons, he added. This Indicated that if all the supply offering had been received in cream and manufactured into butter, the output for the year would have been 712 tons. In comparison with the previous ssason, this showed an increase .of 81 tons, accounted for bv the remarkably gcod season enjoyed th'is year. The average. grade for ex1 port hutter this season had been 94.008 points, an improvemeht over last season and considered by the directorate as very satisfactory. "The average pay'out for all grades of cream for the year ended May 31, 1949, was 21-.964d per lb. butterfat. The balance in the appropriation aecount of £21,481 3s lld will enable a final payment to be made for the season on all grades of butterfat of 5.55d per lb.
"The pig farm has operatea quite satisfactorily for the past season, although the company has only operated the undertaking as a direct activity since J'uly, "1948; when the contractor finished his term. With the prospects of a full season this next year, we hope for even better results than in the past. Your directors have pleasure in an-no-uncing that the chilling station has been installed and has been running quite successfully for some time now.
"The change-over to private contractors carting our cream and milk, instead of our own lorries, has been quite successful and we thipk that the service now being given in this direction is quite satisfactory. We wish to draw the attention of the suppliers to the fact that the plant and machinery of -the butter fa-ctory is in good repair, which we think is quite a good poficy, as laid down in the past. Sto.cks in hand as at May 31, 1949, have been valued and brought into the accounts at ourrent market rates. The total apiount of cream cartage incurred by ' suppliers individirally is £162 ls ld, which represents '.542 per lb. of the total number of lbs. o.f butterfat received' by the CPm,pany from all sources. The thanks of the shareholders are due to. the (staff for the efficient manner in whiph they have carried out their respective duties throughout the past season,"' he concluded.
