Most Britons Live On £150 To £500 A Year
LONDON, July 31. Figures recently released by ,the Commissioners of Tnland Revenue reveal that by far the .greatest number of wage and salary-earners in Britain _3ti 1 1 live on incomes ranging from £150 a year to £500 a year. Eight and three-quarter million re ceive between £250 and £500, ^"'1 just under eight and a half miliou between £150 and £250. In the upper incorae brackets the number receiving between £4000 and £6000 a year, after tax deductions, has now been reduced to 3430. On the present scale of taxation a net income of more than £4000 a yea. means that the recipient must receive gross income of more than £20,000. The report shows that there is only one estate in . England whose net value exceeds £3,000,000. There are four valued at between £2,000,000 and £3,000,000.
