Lightning Kills Baseball Players

Received Monday, 9.10 p.m. NEW YORK, July 34Lightning struck a crowded baseball field at Baker, Florida, today, killing two players, burning and shocking -50 others, and throwing the . spectators into a panic. The crowd, including scores oi' women, went into hysteria when a bolt of lightning, followed by an awesome clap of thunder, left the ' players prostrate or reeling over the field. It ripped a furrow 20 feet long and several inches deep. The lightning struck just as the teams were filing out to begin play. Spectators ran screaming for the arena as nashes of electricity and sparks spread throughout the stancls. Others ran yelling over the field, hindering ambulance men who were trying to attend to the injured players. Police, who rushed to the arena, restored order.
