Institute Members See Road Safety Films

Films cn road safety, shown by Automobile Association officers, were a feature of the monthly meeting of the Waitarere Women's Institute. These proved both interesting ancf instructive. There was a good attendance of members and visitors, who were welcomed by the president, Mrs. Fagan. An anneal for warm clothing, footwear and requisites was received from Corso and it was decided that members would knit peggy squares *to 'be made into. a cot blanket. A report on a recent rally was read by Mrs. Hood. The institute banner was discussed and a vote on the sketches submitted by members resulted in the design outlined by Mrs. Speirs being chosen. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Millar and Benning.Competition winners were: — Open tart: Mrs. Stanley 1, Mrs. Warrington 2, Mrs. Janson 3. Darned sock: Mrs. Warrington 1, Mrs. Janson 2, Mrs. Stanley 3. Best bloom: Mrs.^ Fletcher 1, Mrs. Weldon 2, Mrs. Fagan 3. Mystery parcel: Mrs. Millar.
