Arbor Day To Be Observed On Thursday

Arbor Day this year will be celebrated in Levin on Thursday instead of the official day, Wednesday. This was decided at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council when it was resolve'd to plant eight Australian pepper trees in Playford Park and one in the Levin Park Domain. It was stated that although Wednesday was Arbor Day officially, there was actually no binding rule in regard to the day of observance and that Wednesday, being the date of the referendum poll, was unsuitable. The tree planting will begin at 2 p.m. at Playford Park in the vicinity of the motor camp.
