Meeting Of Commercial Association
The monthly meeting of theOtaki Commercial Association was held on Thursday night, Mr. W, McBeth presiding over a good attendance.. After routine business had been disposed of, a fairly general discussion ensued on the earlier request to the Otaki Borough Council for a more convenient train service to and from Wellington. Members expressed regret that the possibiliv.y of a bus service being arranged had appeared to have taken the place of the desired train service, and it was agreed to advise the council that the assofciation did not support, and had not requested, a bus service, but was keen.y interested in a more convenient train service if it.could be arranged. Another nxatter . yvhich occupied the attention of members was the question of shops remaining open during the lunch hour. It as agreed t'hat the present arrangement had been introduced during the war years, when all were feeling the effect of depleted staffs. This matter will be piaced on the agenda for further discussion at the August meeting.
