Plans For Flower Show Advancing

A committee meeting of the Otaki Horcicultural Society was held during the week, when there was the usual enthusiastic attendance of members presided over by the president, Mr. J. G. MacKenzie. In the unavoidable absence of the secretary, Mr. N. D. Anderson, Mr. R. S. Purvis carried out the duties. A very gratifying response has been met with by members appointed to arrange advertising in the schedule for the two shows on September 9 and November 11. Special prize donors are also quite numerous, it was reporled to the meeting, and thanks were expressed. The very encouraging tone was considered an excellent- augury for the society's activities. A new feature at the daffodil show in September will be the E. T. Bartosh Cup for tne champion of champion bloom. This award may be won outright if annexed four years in succession, or five 'years at intervals. It was agreed to ask the Chinese Consul to attend and officially open Ihe September show. Features at the rose show in November will be the Dr. R. S. Francis Cup and the Glenrossie Cup, both awards being for groups of roses. Schedules will be' available at no distant date, and- exhibitors are promised a generous array of special prizes in addltion to the usual comprehensive list of awards.
