"My name is Martinus Gerarrius Romijn, born in the village of Lisse, in the centre of the bulb-district of Holland, on September 11, 1925 When I was- 16 years old, ju.st having passed the middle school, 1 got a job in the bulb export and was working " there during two and a half years. My father has a gorcer's shop and is also a bulb grower, and, as I have seven brothers and two sisters, we still were young when we had to help our father. But what is in a. name working is no shame. Now I am jn the army during four years already, but .in three months the Governmpnt will send us back to Holland, and that i's the reason why-,1 w,fite to you. - "It is very difflcult tp'jfind employment in Holland, because cur country is too small for ten million of inhabitants. So our Government advises us to try to emigrafce; we are overcrowded. I will asK you have you- or any of your acquaintances employment for me. x can guarantee you will receive 100 per cent. energy at the oflice, nursery, or export or farm. I can pay the voyage myself, and can come to New Zealand in September 1949. So yi,u only have to take care of the requisite formalities.
