Health And Traffic Work In Otaki

Reporting to the Otaki Borough Council's meeting 'on Wednesday night the health inspectbr, Mr. W. J. Guinan, stated that during the last quarter 14 visits had been made to premises, besides routine inspections and visits to shop yards. Two requisitions had been served, Samples Jof milk and water haa been taken, and there were no cases of disease to report. An elderly man and his son, who had been living under most unsatisfactory conditions, both of them in illhealth, had been transferred to hos-^ pitals. Only one accident had been reported during the month of June and no one was injured, stated the report of Traffic Inspector C. L. Davis. Three cases of speeding motorists and five of eyclists riding without lights had been brought before the court. June driving tests had been rather heavy and the inspector reported going through the regulations with average drivers, "who seemed to appreciate this'. "It is p'easing to see the pedestrian crossing at the State school operating under patrol supervision," continued the report. "Information is expected shortly regarding rear lighting oh bicycles." A matter causing the inspector concern is the "tremendous amount of wandering stock, mostly horses." Attention is to be given to this matter forthwith.
