HjvWAils, of Waipukurau, has been renewing acquaintances during a short holiday visit to Otaki. Canon H. E. K. Fry and the Rev. P. Temuera will be in Wellington throughout the week attending the annual Diocesan Synod. Miss J. Heath, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Heath, of Kirk Street, has been successful in passing her State examination for a macernity nurse. Mr. Shirley Denton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Denton, of Otaki Rai'.way, following a nasty fall at a hunt meet at Bainesse on Saturday, was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital on Suhday. - " i' The death occurred on Friday of Mrs. - W„ Biackmore, of Mill Road. Slie was a daughter of oldridentities and a sister of Mr. Hara Raika, ahd hau spent all her lif.e -in Otaki. Mrs. W. M. D'Ath, of Waerenga Road, and Mrs. T. Lowe, of Otaki Railway, ooth inmates of Lewisham Hospital, Wellington, are reported to be making satisfactory progress following' operaiions. Card Evening Successes. The usuai fortnightly card evening in aid of the Tuis marching team was held in the Druids' Hall on Thursday night, when there was the usual satisfactory attendance. Winners were Mesdames S. Brooks and W. Houghton, Miss Pam. Mather and Messrs P-. Bevan and R. Biks.
