Minimum Wage Bill
WELLINGTON, July 12. An inerease in the minimum wage for adult male and fernale workers, is provided for in the Minimum Wage Amendment Bill'whieh was introduced and read a iirst time in the House oi Representatives tonight. The increases are 10s a week, 2s' a day or 3d an hour. The new minimum rat^s provided for in the Bill, are as follow: Male workers: 3s 3d an hour or an equivalent amount having regard to the- rate of production of the worker, £1 6s a dayj £6 5s a .week. Female workers: 2s 2d an hour, 17s 4d a :day, £4 3s--a week. Piecework rat-es "are the same as the • hourly rates. The Bill, which will eome into f orce on September 1, is to bring the mini-> mum- wage "into line with the recent standard wage prtmd'uneement issued by the Court of Arbitration.
