An inerease in the minimum wage for adult male and fernale workers, is provided for in the Minimum Wage Amendment Bill'whieh was introduced and read a iirst time in the House oi Representatives tonight. The increases are 10s a week, 2s' a day or 3d an hour. The new minimum rat^s provided for in the Bill, are as follow: Male workers: 3s 3d an hour or an equivalent amount having regard to the- rate of production of the worker, £1 6s a dayj £6 5s a .week. Female workers: 2s 2d an hour, 17s 4d a :day, £4 3s--a week. Piecework rat-es "are the same as the • hourly rates. The Bill, which will eome into f orce on September 1, is to bring the mini-> mum- wage "into line with the recent standard wage prtmd'uneement issued by the Court of Arbitration.
