INVERCARGILL, July 11. There was heavy rain and a gale throughout Southland to-day, with snow in the back- country and occasional traces in Invercargill. Rain has fatien every day so far this month' and the main rivers are at a high ievei. Flooding is expected and farmers are' busy m'oving stoCk * to safety.
