Garden Circle's Monthly Outing
Quite an enjoyable afternoon was spent recently when members of the Otaki Women's Institute garden circle met at the home of Mrs. F. Hunter for their monthly outing. Mrs. Hunter occupied the chair for the discussion of formal business, and extended a cordial welcome to all, especially welcoming two new members in Mesdames Jepson and Yates. Plans for a display in conjunction with . the August meeting of the institute were dealt with very thoroughly. A dainty afternoon 'tea was served, after which Mesdames Ross and Yates were appointed to judge the best flower and shrub exhibits.
The best flower award went to Mrs. C. Walker, with Mrs. S. Brooks second. Miss A. Smith received the awaid for the best shrub and Mrs. Walker was second. Mrs. Ross was the winner of a further competition. Before dispersing, various plants were shared among members, with Mrs. W. S. Clark mq.yjpg a vote of thanks to the ho'stess for her hospitality.
