Chambers Of Commerce Side--Step Burning Issue

PALMERSTON N., June 15. "While this rule'stands I do not intend to attend another conference," decla.red the chairman, Mr. F. G. Jolly, last night when he reported to the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce some of the proceedings at the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which he attended as Palmerston North delegate. _ Claiming that the conference had side-stepped the most burning issue of the day," Mr. Jolly described the result of his attempts to submit a remit dealing with Communism. One rule of the conference allowed any one dissentient t'o veto a remit being discussed.. When Mr. Jolly 's remit was treated in this manner, he endeavoured to have the rule amended, only to have his amendment vetoed.
