There was a short but sharp earthquake at Invercargill at 8.55 tonight, sufficiently severe to cause temporary alarm in the pieture theatres and other places. The quake, which lasted about 15 seconds, was preceded by a rumbling noise. No damage was reported. The shock was also felt in otbers parts of fche province.
