+ Disturbing to residents in the locality, a penetrating odour has made a large portion of the eastern side o.f the boraugh not the pleasantesf of places in which to linger luring recent mornings. A host of complaints have resulted, residents stating that the smell appeared to be emanating from faulty septic tanks or some .ype of bad sewerage. The borough council's sanitary inspector, Mr. W. J:s Guinan said today in answer tq the numerous complaints he had received. that -,he trouble arose from ensilage and it was in the early mornings during frosty conditions that the smell was apparent. As soon as the sun rose the trouble ceased. It was admitted that the smell was a sickening one but its duration was fortuna.tely short, he said. There was nothing that he could do about the position.
