One Motor Union For New Zealand
WELLINGTON, May 19. The North Island Motor Union today approved the principle of establishing a Dominion executive or conference embracing the North and South Island Motor Unions. The South Island will be approached with a view to beginning negotiations which will serve to bring this about. A motion to this effeet was moved by the president of the N.I.M.U., Mr. W. H. Brown, who said that it was a very big proposition. Suggestions he made if ainalgamation came about, were that there should be a representative on the body -from every . association in the North and South Islands. The _president of the NoiHii Island Union should preside over on« meeting and the president of the South ooyer the next meeting. Meetings should take place on one oceasion in Wellington and on the next in Christchurch. Someone with a considerable amount of experienee of botn unions would need to be appointed: , secretary. Mr. E. A. Batt, of Wellington, said that while he approved of the principle, he felt that auch an important matter should be referred back to the eonstituent associations for their views before any official approach was made to the South Island.
