Memorial Service At Maori Mission
A memorial service for the late Father Francis Delach, S.M.,v who died in Paris rbbently, wak^'heM^ the grounds of the Maori Missioh Station, Otaki, on Friday. Solemn Requiem Mass at St. Mary's Church was celebrated by .Father Delach's successor, the Very Rev. A. Venning,- S.M., with Fathers Cullinane, S.M., and J. Dynan, S.M., as deacon and subdeacon. The Master of Ceremonies was the first Maori priest, Father W. Te Awhitu, S.M . A choir of Marist Maori Missionaries, supported by priests of the archdioceses, rendered the occasional music under the direction of Father James Durning, S.M. His Grace, Archbishop O'Shea, presided. With representatives of the Redemptorist Fathers, St. Columbian's Missionary Fathers," and the diocese clergy, more than 40 priests were present. The Rev. Paul Temuera represented the Anglican Maori Mission and Monsieur H. L.Rollet, Charge d'Affaires, the Consul for France. The Rev. Father J. J. Riordan, S.M., C.M.G., of the Wellington Maori Mission, preached an eloquent panegyric to the late missionarv.
