Greer Garson ma kes a lovely and intelligent Elizabeth, the eldest daughter. Laurence is Darcy, a proud and wealthy youhg aristocrat who visits the village where they live. Despite his pride in family and distaste for Bennets as a group, Darcy fafls in love with' Elizabeth, who is prejudiced against his arrogance from the first. Supporting performances are uniformly excellent, particuTarly the highlight comedy portrayals of Mary Boland, Edna May Oliver ahd Edmund Gwenn.
