Mr. J. R. Grant. of the B'ank of New South Wales, Napier, has .ioined the staff of the local branch of the bank. Mr. H. A. Robertson, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Levin, is at preseht on annUal 'eave. The second officer of the bank, Mr. N. D. Tilley, is acting manager. Six weeks' leave of absence on account of illness was last night granted Cr. C. Sherwood by the Levin Borough Council. The Maydr, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, Eftid. cduncilldrs expressed the hope that Gr. Sherwood would make a speedy recdVsry. Cr. A. J. H. Allen, who has rfeturned to Levin after a visit "to Australia with the Anzac delfegation, was weLcomed back to the council table by the Maybr, Mr. H. B. George Behrent, an ehiployee af the Manawatu County OounCil, :ollapsed yesterday motning ahd Vas dfead before medical assistance arrived. Mf. Behrent arrived at work as usual and boarded the iruck to transport him to his work at the council's crushing piaht. The truck had not moved a distance of 500 yards when he collapsed: Medical assistance was immediately iummoned, but life was extinct.
