Beautification Of Approach To Levin

The beautification and re-align-ment of the southern approach to Levin was the subject cf a let'.er from the Levin Bjrough Council which was discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Council. After pointing out that the corner section on the intersection of Beach Road and the main county roaq necessitated a very awkward bend, and that the section was used for the passagb of stcck from the saleyards to the abattoirs, consequently becoming a SSS, OI mud in winter, Ihe council recommended that it be jointly purchased and that the Main Highways Board be requested to realign ihe corner. ■ The letter also stated that the Levin Beautifying Society had agreed to undertake the beautification of ,the residue of the land. "I think the borough council is a bit late in this request," commenled the ehairman, Mr. A. M. Coiquhoun.- "We took action in this matter over 12 months ago and the highways board' has agreed to take the sec. ion over. No doubt they will complete the deviation in due course." Cr. E. R. Winkler asked if it wou.d nct be wise to advise Ihe highways board of the beautifying society's offer.
