New Rule On Regrading Of Basketball Players
If a member of a basketball elub p.ays in three or more games in one grade, she may not p.ay in a lower grade until she has stood down for chree iSaturdays and has appied for and received -her regrading, This was the recent decision of the executive of the H arowhenua Baskewball Association and has been added to the rules. The secretajy, Mirs P. Hiljs, was instructed by- the meeting to wrifce to all clubs advising that nomintions for the positions of coach and seiecuors for representative teams have to he in- the hands of the executive not later than Saturday, May 28. . The question of keeping the •Horowhenua CoPege courts tidy was discussed at some length. The hope was expressed that spectators would deposit papers and orange peelings in the boxes provided. but as experience has proved .that -it is impossible-to keep the footpath in front of the courts and -the courts themselves tidy, one club will be asked each Saturday to take this responsibiiity. The president, Miss H. M. Chap-man-Cohen, suggested that new team and referee car'ds should be adopted. This card, which would take the p'ace of the separate team a.nd referee .cards, will be filled in beforehand with the names of players and then handed to the referee, who uses it as a score card. To encourage greater accuracy in goal shooting, it was decided that an honours list should be established in each grade to recora Ihe best scores estahlished, not only each week but also for the who'e season. It will be necessary for a follower of the club to keep the scores each week. Clubs will be advised on this matter and their co-operation sought.
