At the annual meeting of the Levin Fire Board, Mr. F. E. Parker, the Levin Borough Council's represen'.ative on the board, was reappointed ehairman. The Rev. Martin Sullivan, of Wellington, has been appointed principal of College House, Christc/iurcn, in succession to Canon S. Parr who will retire on January 31, 1950. Regret at the death of one of their members, Mr. E. Hayes, was expressed by memcers of the Levin Fxre Board at che annual 'meeting oi the biard recentiy. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. The death has occurred in Wellington at the age of 81 years of Mrs.,Amelia Johanna Jackson. She had 'resrded in Levin for 43 .years, nmving to Wellington in" January '• !-. - T s.. Jackson is stirvived by ,her husband, one son and two " At a recent meeting of the Levin branch of the New i Zealand Friesian _ Breeders' Associa ion, members expressed sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. H. R. Green, of Kairanga. Mr. Green was the founder of the we 1-known Oak View stud and was also a prominent Friesian judge. At the capping ceremony at Ma.-se,v Ae luuiuural Conege last week, Kenneth "Dumbell, eldest son or jvir. ana Mrs. J. C. Dumbell, of Sussex Street, Levin, was successful in obtaining his Dip oma in Agriculture. He was also awarded the W. K. Morton Memorial Prize, the Southdown Sheep Society's Perpetual Challenge Shield and a special prize for practicai wool work. He is now on the technical staff of the animal research station at Ruakura.
