Military Band Leader Asks To Be Replaced

H. 3nyce, at the; annual meeting on vVednesday- night, indicated that rlthough he was vfilling to accept toe position again in. the meantime, ae- Wouid like- the incoming committee io consider the appointment Df* a new bandmaster as soon as possibm in view of the fact; that. he was unable. to- deVote the- necessary fime which the; position entailed. He was at present studying for a,n overseas examination and most 3f his nights were taken up, said Mr. Boyce. If the committee could appoint. an understudy to take overhe band later in the year, he would oe very pleased to carry on for a, iitt'e- while. continued Mp:.. Boyce. A great deal of work was entailed in ^ running the band, as it was essential! chat the learners be taken singly or in twos. He felt that he could not continue to devote this time, much- as he would like to. The committee and band would be very sorry to lose Mr. Boyce if he persisted in his request said the president, Mr. H. A. Robertson. As one of those who had watched the band from its start, he realised the work that MR. Boyce had put into its development, and knew that without those efito.rts the. band would not be in existence today. He fully appreciated Mr. Boyce's position and felt sure the committee- would try and meet his wishes, . He was also sure that Mr. Boyce, would continue to take an interest in. the band. Other members . also spoke in high. praise of Mr.. Bovc.p's work.
