School Sports Day Sets Big Luncheon Task
The big task of providing luncheon for upwards of 600- children who will be in Levin on May 27 for a sports day at which pupils from all schools of the distriet wiil compete is to be undertaken by the. Horowhenua School Committees' and Educational Association. This was decided at a. mee'ing of the association on Thursday night upon the suggestion of the school headmasters. Theypointed out that if luncheons were available on the ground, the necessity for the children to go into town would be obviated. Moreover, without special provision being made, such a large number of chi'dren would soon exhaust the supply of over-the-counter luncheon foods and some would go without refreshments. The association is to issue a call to the pie-making firms of the distriet to supply 600 pies for the day, and if they are unable 'to meet this order arrangements are to be made
to secure the balance from. Palmerston North. A Jike number of sandwiches and buns are also to be obtained. Lunches will be sold" to the children for 6d or 7d each.. It is also planned to have an ice cream and soft drink stall on the ground. i To finalise mattersUn connection with the. catering, a sub- committee w.as set up consisting of Mesdames W. Easton and C. Stern and Messrs E, H. Barber, H. J. Kilsby, A. J. Shaw, V. J. Cott'e, F. O. Buctt, A, C. Kennerley and H. F. McCiun.e.
