Football Club's Jubilee
Shannon's oldest and strongest sports organisation, the Football Club, is celebrating its golden jubilee in conjunction with the school celebrations next month. Formed .in 1899;, the club has enjoyed '50 yfears 6f existence durihg whieh tirpe it has been recognised as one oi the strongest clubs in the Horo whenua1 Rugby Unioh's area. A very strong committee of past aiid present footballers and followers of the sport has heen set up to make the jubilee celebrations fitting. On Friday, June 3, the footballers and the school will be hol'ding their combined jubilee ball. On Saturday afternoon the senior competition match will be held on the domairl. A church service has heen arranged for Sunday and the club's big day will be on Monday, June 6, when there will be a parade of players, both past and present. They will make their way to the domain, where the annual MaoriPakeha match will be played. On Monday evening the club will be the hosts to many guests at a jubilee smoke concert. Altogether an excellent programme has been arranged and it is -expected" :that many -Hdrmer members aiid shpporters will"be m Shannon for' th.e celebrations. •
