New Zealanders To Assist British Farming
Received Thursday, 7 p.m. LOXDOX, April 28. Mr. A. Ward, Director of Herd lm-l provement to the Xew Zealand Dairy Boards, and Dr. C. P. McMeekan, Director of the Ruakura Animal Research Institute, have accepted invitations to join the advisory panel oi overseas experts whic.h will assist t~h British authorities to iniprove lierds'and inereuse niilk production in Britain. In addition to the two Xew Zealanders, the panel will indude 12 leading agi'i cultural scientists from the Pnite' Btates, Canada, Bweden and Denmark and three leading Brifisu experts. XichoN professor of animal breeding at the Umversitv of Wales, Aberystwyth, ine work of the panel will be coordinated by Mr. Joseph Edwards, scientilic adviser to the British Milk Marketing! Board. Announcing the formation of the panel, the chairman of the board, Hir Thomas Baxter, said that milk production in England and Wales had already reuched the target figure for 1952 ( 1 ,(i()(), ()()(), Opo gallons) and that as a result it should be possible to diseontinue milk rationing tliis year and to commence the sale of cream to the public next year. increased supplies of milk would also be availablo to ice cream and ehoeolate manufacturers.
