Shock for American Car Dealers
XEW YORK, April 21. Speeial reports from the Onited States sav that American car dealers have been shocked by an announeement by the British Austin Comi)any that it proposes to reduce the priee of its re-cord-breaking Atlantic model by 1000 dollars, or 25 per cent. of its previous price. This is the biggest single reduction in the history of the American car market, and, aecording to the Austin Companv. marks the beginning of a big drive to increase American saies, in spite of the change from a sellers' to a btiyers' market. The Atlantic, which broke 40 int( rnational speed and endurance records previously held by Americans during ihe week's test run on the Indianapolis Speedwav, will now be available in tiie United States for about £745, or just under 3000 dollars. It is not available on the British home market, but is reserved for export only.
