SAVE THE STREET TREES

"TREE LOVER," c

'■ sir,— Is it possible that the Mayor and counciPors seriously contemplate the removal of the 20 to 30-year-old trees in Queen Street? For many years now they have been the admiration of visitors to our town. An expert of 30 years' standing assures me that cutting down the trees will not cure the trouble — suckering into adjoining properties. , . . If my trees intrude on to a neighbour's property he cannot compe1 me to cut them down; the remedy is on his own property. These trees are from 12 to 15 feet away from the fences of property hold-r ers. A former Mayor of Levin, the late Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, recommended people to think twice before they cut down a tree. Yours, pt.rv
