Sir,— It is unfortunate for "Amused" that he did not study his subject a little more fully before he rushed into print against Mr. A. W. Parton. In his endeavour .to make "A.W.P." a had boy, he slipped up. If he turns up the flies of "The Chronicle," (April 20, 1943) he can fread the report of a Levin Borough. Council meeting where sewerage

was discussed. Mr. Parton there proposed that a firm of engineers be asked to make a re-port on a sewerage scheme for the borough- The - Mayor, Mr. H. A. Phirips, and the tpwn clerk, Mr. H. L. Jenkins, interviewed the firm of Vickerman and Lancaster and, at the next meeting, the Mayor moved that this firm be asked to report. This was seconded by Mr. Parton. He always maintained that the 'pipes used for storm water were too small and this was endorsed in the engineers report. At the same time Mr. Parton voted against the employment of a borough engineer, as there was no work of major _ importance tc Warrant an appointment. ^ This council engaged one. It built him a house and bought him instruments, so I understand. Where is he now? What did he do and what did it cost the ratepayers? Who. said "save the assets?" Playford Park was given to the people of Levin for a motor park etc., for all time. Without the fuil consent and knowledge of the people, no one has a right to Sell any of it. To attemnt to do so is surely vandalism. The triangle, so much to the front at present, was made what it is today when Mr. Parton was president of the Levin and District Beautifying Society At the meeting when the R.S.A Hall was brought in, it is reported that one of the counciUors remarked that he was "prepared. to |ive 4hem the land."
